The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University is hiring an instructor to develop and teach climate and atmospheric science courses in support of our growing Climate Science undergraduate program.

Appointment at the Instructor rank is anticipated; however, higher rank may be considered depending upon the qualifications of the successful candidate. This .75 FTE, 12-month, fixed-term position approximates a traditional 1.00 FTE, 9-month instructional role, but includes security and benefits often not included in a 9-month position, such as paid vacation time and year-round income. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean.

The primary purpose of this position is to develop and deliver on-campus and online (ecampus) courses in climate and atmospheric sciences and meteorology for the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS) at OSU. Courses may include a 100 level course in weather and climate, ATS 201 Climate Science, and upper division courses that support the climate science program and align with the incumbent’s area of specialization. In addition to instruction, the incumbent will be responsible for course and curriculum development, online course and digital content development, in part in collaboration with other faculty, and coordination of online and face-to-face course content. This position may direct student research projects and internships and serve on student committees.

Oregon State University (OSU) and the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences are committed to maintaining and enhancing its collaborative and inclusive community that strives for equity, and equal opportunity. All OSU faculty members are responsible for helping to ensure that these goals are achieved. CEOAS faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion across all their duties, including efforts promoting equitable outcomes among learners of diverse and underrepresented identity groups.

To ensure full consideration, applications must be received by August 15, 2024.
