DOE's OCED is looking for a skilled environmental engineer or scientist excited to work on transformational clean energy projects as our Life Cycle Assessment team lead! The Department of Energy's Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations' portfolio includes ~$28B in funding for Clean Hydrogen Hubs, Direct Air Capture, Carbon Capture, Nuclear Energy, Long Duration Energy Storage, and other key technologies. The ideal applicant will have 5+ years of experience in lifecycle emissions analysis, particularly in hydrogen, carbon management, chemicals, refining, iron & steel, aluminum, cement or other industries relevant to OCED's portfolio, and a master's or advanced degree in environmental engineering, environmental science or a related field. Position Description: LCA Team Lead with DOE's Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations

Desired experience and skillset:

  *   Master's or advanced degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
  *   5+ years of hands-on experience in life cycle emissions analysis, particularly in carbon capture, hydrogen, cement, aluminum, iron and steel, or chemicals and refining
  *   Project management skills to help drive emission reduction initiatives
  *   Proficiency in LCA software and tools like GREET and OpenLCA
  *   In-depth knowledge of greenhouse gas emissions calculations and reporting methodologies
  *   Strong analytical skills to model emissions throughout a product's life cycle and proficiency with LCA software and tools (GREET, openLCA)
  *   Familiarity with industry-specific environmental regulations and standards
  *   Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  *   Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in sustainable manufacturing and emission reduction
Responsibilities:

  *   Lead the designing/scoping of LCA requirements and analysis across OCED
  *   Manage the LCA team and lab/contractor support dedicated to OCED projects
  *   Interface with other DOE offices on LCA related matters
  *   Source, assess, and select the models and frameworks for project analysis
  *   Synthesize OCED emissions data for publication and present emissions impacts at technical conferences
