Apologies for the multiple postings. The Chen Lab of Ecosystem Dynamics and
Remote Sensing at Rutgers University has *TWO* *postdoctoral
positions* available
in early 2024.

*The first position has a specific research focus* with the project title:
"Embracing the 3D Era: Exploring Vertical Acclimation of Vegetation Canopy
Structure and Photosynthetic Activities through GEDI Data." It’s a
NASA-funded project. Priority will be given to candidates with backgrounds
in vegetation photosynthesis and hydraulics, remote sensing of canopy
radiation transfer.



*The second position offers more freedom in research direction, similar to
a postdoctoral fellowship*. Candidates can define their own research focus.
We are looking for outstanding researchers with similar interests.
Preferred research directions include remote sensing of vegetation,
analysis of land use and climate change impacts, land surface modeling
(water-carbon-energy), application or development of optimization theories
for vegetation processes.



*Preference will be given to candidates meeting the following criteria*:
Experience with High-performance computing clusters, earth system model
running and analysis.



Both positions have secured funding for several years, with renewals based
on performance (annual salary: $60,000-$65,000, and benefits). Rutgers
University is the flagship state university of New Jersey (ranked 40th
nationally), with a prime location near New York City and Philadelphia.
