The Buzzards Bay Coalition is a Massachusetts non-profit environmental advocacy organization focused on the protection, restoration and sustainable use and enjoyment of Buzzards Bay and its watershed. We are seeking an energetic, independent, and self-motivated research technician to carry out salt marsh field monitoring for summer 2024. The position will be based out of our Science and Field Operations Center in Marion, MA.
Technicians' primary responsibilities will include conducting salt marsh vegetation, elevation, and invertebrate field surveys, data collection and data entry. Surveys are conducted at 13 marshes around the Buzzards Bay watershed from Westport to Falmouth.
Field work experience is required. Applicants with experience identifying salt marsh vegetation and collecting environmental field samples will be given preference. Technicians will need to have their own reliable transportation to get to/from field sites (mileage will be reimbursed).
This is a temporary, at-will position for an average of 35 hrs/week for 10 weeks over the time period of June 17 to August 23, 2024. This position will be paid $18.00/hr. If housing is needed, Buzzards Bay Coalition can provide co-housing accommodations at a BBC Reserve property for lower than market rate rent.
