Could you help post this positions in the ES Jobs?
Environmental Biogeochemistry Laboratory (EBL) at the University of Delaware seeks MS and PhD applicants for the Fall 2024 intake (application deadline March 15, 2024) in the following projects:
1) Source tracking of phosphorus in soils and waters. This project will require knowledge on soil and mineral geochemistry, particularly that of phosphate minerals and species and phosphorus biogeochemistry and isotope systematics. This is a field-based project on the southern Florida and is related to water quality of coastal waters and wetlands.
2) Molecular scale cycling of phytate in soils. This project utilizes mass spectrometry and chromatographic methods of analysis of enzymatic and non-enzymatic hydrolysis of phytate present in soils- controlled and field simulated experiments.
3) Characterization of phosphate ions in biochar and interactions on soils and other defined surfaces. This project involves stable isotopes and other surface spectroscopic and microscopy methods to understand surficial and internal physicochemical features and reactivity in terms of nutrient retention and release functions.
4) Material development for novel fertilizer development- material chemistry and characterization. This project includes a series of controlled synthesis and characterization using spectroscopic and spectrometric methods.
The major instruments we use are FTIR, XRD, XAS, ICP-MS, IR-MS, MS/MS, and NMR. These instruments are either present in our lab and the center in the same building.
