Dr. Tamara Harms’ ecosystems and biogeochemistry lab in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of California Riverside is recruiting a motivated and detail-oriented technician to support research in catchment science, biogeochemistry, and ecosystem ecology. The technician will analyze water and soils for solutes and gases (e.g., ion chromatography, gas chromatography, total carbon, colorimetry) and lead calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation. The technician will also deploy and maintain a network of telemetered instream sensors collecting and relaying water quality data and contribute to synoptic sampling campaigns of rivers in Southern California. The technician will lead procurement of materials required to support research and maintain a safe laboratory environment. The candidate must be dedicated to collecting high-quality data and will manage, archive, and analyze data using reproducible approaches. The position will also require travel to Alaska for field work (2-3 week trips).
