*EPA-funded Ph.D. opportunity in microbial sourcetracking at University of
South Alabama and Dauphin Island Sea Lab*


We are seeking a motivated student to work with an interdisciplinary team
on microbial sourcetracking in Mobile Bay, Alabama. Potential students
should be highly self-motivated and have a strong interest in microbiology,
biogeochemistry, and bioinformatics. The position will be supported by a
recently funded 5-year grant from the Environmental Protection Agency, but
departmental teaching assistantships and fellowships are also available.
The student will matriculate through the USA Stokes School of Marine and
Environmental Sciences (

Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills and an ability to
work both independently and collaboratively with groups from diverse

degree in a related field is preferred for this position, but a B.S. degree
