The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) scholarship fund was established in 2004 and has awarded over $1.9 million since its founding. Scholarships are available to students studying GEOINT, geography, geospatial sciences, international affairs, policy, and related fields, with scholarship opportunities available at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral candidate levels. Applications for 2025/2026 open on January 18, 2025. https://usgif.org/usgif-scholarship-program/
USGIF boasts 13 sponsored scholarships, ranging from $5,000 to $15,000, and a general scholarship fund, starting at $3,000. Awards are distributed across the fall and spring semesters, and may be applied to tuition, books and technology, housing, research, and other education-based needs. Awards are non-taxable.
USGIF scholarships are highly competitive and reviewed by a multi-tiered panel of experts. Awardees are recognized nationally by the GEOINT community and opportunities for additional involvement in events, research, and networking are perks of winning an award through USGIF.
To apply, students are required to provide:
Letters of recommendation
Most recent school transcript and CV
Short answer questions
Answer essay prompt
While there are no minimum enrollment hours associated with USGIF scholarships, applicants must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher for consideration. Sponsored scholarships may have additional requirements. Deadline to apply is April 18, 2025.
