Recruiting a human-environment geography PhD student for a 4-year funded
position (1-year graduate research assistantship (RA) and 3-years teaching
assistantship) in the School of the Environment, Society & Sustainability
at the University of Utah. The expected start date is Fall 2025.
The prospective student should have research interests in areas such as
social and environmental justice, political ecology, science and technology
studies (STS), climate resilience/adaptability, and/or cultural geography.
Desire to work on energy topics, resources, environmental governance,
property issues, and similar themes in the Mountain West region is ideal.
Teaching experience, English proficiency, and a master’s degree are
required. Experience with qualitative methods is strongly preferred.
Experience or willingness to work with GIS, statistical analysis, R and
related programs would be convenient.
In addition to RA and teaching assistantship responsibilities, the
prospective student will be mentored to develop an independent dissertation
research topic, apply for graduate research fellowships, conduct field
work, and publish their findings.
