Hi all,

I am volunteering with a new Canadian faculty-led initiative, Palestinian
Students & Scholars At Risk (PSSAR https://pssar.ca). We are thrilled to
share that, through collective efforts, we have secured over 35 funded
graduate scholarships in Canada and the US, including fully-funded PhD
admissions, for Palestinian students. We find that there is a surprising
amount of flexibility off the admissions cycle if a willing faculty member
has the funding to accept an exceptional applicant.

We currently have over 250 applicants from Gaza for both students and
scholars. Providing funded graduate opportunities is one of the most
significant forms of support we can offer to those at risk. We deeply
appreciate the commitment shown by professors who have already joined the
PSSAR Initiative, and we encourage more to participate by signing up at
professors.pssar.ca. Students who are interested in volunteering to work
closely with the applicants in Gaza can also sign up:
https://pssar.ca/get-involved.

You'll notice that the website is very Canada-centric; however, all efforts
will go to wherever we can get a good match for these students. We have
already had success at several US universities, and a few more beyond North
America.

One of the most impactful things you can do right now, whether or not you
have funding for a student yourself, is to share this announcement with
other fields. We have some, but not many, environmental/geoscience
applicants. If you have a friend or colleague with whom you could share
this initiative, for distribution in their discipline, this will help a lot.

For those interested in further promoting PSSAR or if you have any
inquiries, please contact us at info at pssar.ca, or feel free to write to me
personally.

Thank you!

Morgan

p.s. I am currently trying to help find a postdoc or lectureship position
for an excellent assistant professor of environmental engineering, with
expertise in water treatment and waste management. If you have any specific
ideas or leads or want to learn more, I can forward his files to you.
