Hello all -
We are excited to share an opening for an Atmospheric Modeling &
Predictability (AMP) Postdoctoral Fellow within NSF|NCAR's Climate and
Global Dynamics (CGD) Laboratory. This position will focus on understanding
the dynamics and microphysics contributing to convective invigoration in
coastal regions. Specifically, the postdoctoral researcher will be using
data from DOE’s Tracking Aerosol Convection Interactions Experiment
(TRACER) field campaign. The postdoc researcher will be responsible for
conducting independent and collaborative research on the interactions
between convective dynamics and microphysics, the large-scale environment,
and boundary layer processes, identifying key mechanisms behind
aerosol-related convective invigoration, and publishing results of this
research in scientific journals. The goals of the present work are, first,
to build a comprehensive library of convective cases with a variety of
aerosol conditions using observations, and second, to use high-resolution
large-eddy simulations to untangle dynamics-microphysics and
cloud-environment interactions behind convective invigoration.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a 2-year term position with the second year contingent
on performance.
DEADLINE: 11:59 PM MT, Friday, April 26, 2024.
