The Model-Data Integration Hydro Lab (https://lijingwang.github.io/) in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Connecticut (UConn) seeks applicants for 1-2 PhD positions interested in using machine learning to integrate hydrologic modeling and field measurements.
Individuals with undergraduate and/or graduate degrees in earth sciences, hydrology, hydrogeology, environmental science, geology, geophysics, environmental engineering, climate science, data science, or other related fields are encouraged to apply. We also strongly welcome students from underrepresented groups in earth sciences to apply.

For full funding consideration, please apply before January 10th, 2024. Students will receive continuous stipend support starting at ~$27,000 per 9 months with the possibility of additional summer funding. Admission also includes tuition waiver, health insurance benefits, and funding for research related travel.
In our group, we focus on studying the impacts of uncertain factors, which range from bedrock to canopy to climate disturbances, on aquifers and watersheds using advanced modeling, machine learning and decision science.
