Postdoctoral Fellow in Climate Change, Human Health, and Health
Equity. Florida State University

Description: Florida State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research
Fellow to lead project(s) on climate exposures (e.g., extreme heat, air
pollution, and tropical cyclones/hurricanes), adverse health outcomes, and
equity. The fellow will join a transdisciplinary team that collaborates
closely with local health departments, municipal sustainability directors
and regional planning councils. The position is supported by grants from
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Aeronautics and
Space Administration, and Wellcome Trust.

Duties include:

   - Lead secondary data acquisition, analysis, scientific writing, and
   disseminating results
   - Co-manage the project
   - Opportunities exist for co-writing grants and training new researchers

Qualifications

   - PhD completed before appointment begins. We welcome applicants from
   public health, geography, environmental science, public policy, urban and
   regional planning, and related interdisciplinary fields
   - Ability to work independently with general guidance
   - Excellent organizational and communications skills
   - Desirable skills include experience with temporal and/or spatial
   statistical analysis (e.g., case-crossover, time series analysis, spatial
   regression, mixed effects models etc.), experience with a scientific
   computing language (e.g., Python, R), publishing record of accomplishment,
   and familiarity with public health, socioeconomic, and/or earth observation
   data sources.

Appointment Details

Funds are available for a 2-year appointment. The experience will advance
the fellow’s professional, technical, and career interests. The fellow will
join a cohort of 2-3 postdoctoral or research scientists working on climate
change, health, access, or minority health disparities. Target hiring date
extends from the Fall of 2023 to Winter/Spring of 2024. Domestic and
international applicants are encouraged to apply. Applications will be
