India is seeking a full-time Senior Research Associate to perform analysis
for and advance development of our Air Quality Life Index Program.

educational programs, research programs and activities for the betterment
of India.

*About the Unit*

India faces the dual challenge of rapidly improving living
standards—through sustained economic growth and expanded access to reliable
and affordable energy—while simultaneously reducing pollution for a cleaner
and healthier environment. EPIC-India researchers work hand-in-hand with
government and industry partners to identify innovative ideas, pilot them
on the ground, and rigorously measure outcomes.

*Position Description*

EPIC India is seeking a full-time Senior Research Associate to perform
analysis for and advance development of our Air Quality Life Index Program.
This award-winning program generates an annual report synthesizing the
state of global air quality in countries across the world, creates
regionally tailored analyses, maintains an interactive website, engage
community members in virtual and in-person settings, and shares the
underlying data and analyses in an open format on GitHub.

The ideal candidate possesses a mix of air pollution, economics,
analytical, data science, interpersonal & communications skills and is
passionate about applying their technical skills and engaging with partners
with diverse backgrounds to convey the impact of air pollution on life
expectancy. The candidate will have fluency in one or more computer
languages (e.g., R, Python) and comfort working and maintaining an
open-source GitHub organization and repositories within.

*Responsibilities*

   - Oversee and implement the annual data pipeline process, from engaging
   with our partner organizations for the raw data to transforming it into its
   final form, displayed in our reports, analyses, and website.
   - Other tasks related to the execution of EPIC India research projects
   as assigned by the line manager.
   - Performing analyses and generating figures for the AQLI Annual report,
   as well as for other communications and outreach activities.
   - Writing text to describe methodologies and results from analyses.
   - Occasional travel to conferences and other venues to present AQLI
   findings.
   - Assisting with data collection, cleaning, preliminary data analysis,
   and preparation of documents and presentations for dissemination.
   - Liaising with external partners to continue development of the AQLI
   Platform.
   - Support collaborators, principal investigators, research manager and
   other EPIC India senior leaders in data analysis needs, as well as
   maintaining strong relationships with participating partner organizations,
   government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.
   - Develop and disseminate necessary project materials and collaterals
   targeting a wide range of actors such as policymakers and academic
   researchers.
   - Any other project related tasks on an as needed basis, including (but
   not limited to) desk/literature survey or data analyses and support in
   preparation of meetings and presentations for developing new partnerships,
   as assigned by EPIC India’s senior leadership, or Research Manager.

*Qualifications*

Education

   - Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Policy,
   Environment Policy, Science, Data Science, or another related field.

Experience

   - At least 3 years of experience in software development (R or Python
   especially desired), especially in an open-source environment

*Competencies*

   - Fluent in English and Hindi
   - Demonstrated interest in energy and environment policy, especially air
   pollution.
   - Experience working on projects in an open-source environment with an
   existing portfolio on GitHub.
   - Excellent management and organizational skills along with strong
   quantitative skills
   - Flexible, self-motivating, able to manage multiple tasks efficiently,
   and a team player.
   - Strong communication, and presentation skills
