Dear Colleagues
The School of Integrated Sciences (SIS) at James Madison University invites applications for a cluster hire of four tenure-track faculty positions with a focus on sustainability and resilience. As a unit that engages with environmental issues holistically, we seek colleagues who can approach sustainability from scientific, technical, and/or critical human perspectives. These positions will address curricular needs within SIS while supporting a larger initiative to enhance academic capacities in sustainability across the school. College and university-level sustainability efforts use the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a framework for identifying priorities.
The four available positions will be distributed between two job postings. Please visit JMU’s JobLink site for further details regarding each posting, including additional position-specific qualifications, and instructions to apply:
* Tenure-Track Sustainability Focused Faculty Positions – Geography<https://joblink.jmu.edu/postings/15710>
* Tenure-Track Sustainability Focused Faculty Positions – Environment<https://joblink.jmu.edu/postings/15708>
Individuals interested in being considered for both positions are encouraged to apply to both postings with similar materials.
We have cultivated within SIS a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive culture that reflects core values that include innovation, collaboration, humility, and student engagement. We embrace our differences as strengths and strive to dismantle all forms of discrimination. We prioritize balance and positive impact through integration – of teaching and research, of disciplines, of difference. We highly value autonomy and collaboration; our culture is one of care, appreciation, and support. Our leadership is characterized by transparency, honesty in communication, and fairness. For more information about our School and its programs, please visit: https://www.jmu.edu/cise/sis/.<https://www.jmu.edu/cise/sis/>
In addition to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, each position requires an active scholarly program (research and/or application) that enriches and engages faculty and students in SIS. Potential areas of interest include interdisciplinary scholarship in environmental systems, physical geography, environmental policy, ecology, biodiversity, natural resources, sustainable agriculture, sustainable production, sustainability (more broadly, including critical perspectives), climate resilience, and/or other closely related environmental and sustainability related topics.
Best wishes,
