CarbonPlan has a new FT remote job opening for a *Policy Manager*!

CarbonPlan is a nonprofit research organization working on improving the
transparency and scientific integrity of climate solutions with open data
and tools. Our team analyzes the design and implementation of climate
programs across the public and private sectors. Our work focuses primarily
on carbon offsets, carbon removal, and climate risks. In all three areas,
we create public resources on climate solutions based on the best available
science and data. We want to make sure that the world pursues more of the
solutions that work and less of the ones that do not. You can read more

*Job description*

A core part of our mission is to provide trustworthy information that can
help guide decision making and policy development. We are looking to expand
our team’s capacity to track and participate in policy processes around
carbon removal and carbon offsets. As a Policy Manager at CarbonPlan, you
will be responsible for identifying and prioritizing policy processes,
determining where to engage, how to share our research, and what research
outputs and commentaries to produce in order to influence the policy making
process. Your work will support and inform our activities across both
carbon removal and carbon offsets. You will report to the Carbon Removal
Program Lead, and participate in a collaborative working culture in which
you will contribute to setting strategy and priorities.


*You will: *

   - Develop, manage, and execute a policy research agenda focused on
   carbon removal, carbon offsets, and net-zero policy.
   - Lead efforts to share our research in relevant policy contexts, for
   example by writing comment

   - Collaborate on communications strategy and execution.

*You should have:*

   - Passion for our mission.
   - 5+ years of policy experience, including time focused on federal
   policy.
   - A strong policy network in the US at the state and/or federal level.
   - Familiarity with climate science, carbon removal, carbon offsets, or
   related policy issues.
   - Experience translating technical information into policy
   recommendations.
   - Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
   - Experience working in highly collaborative and cross-functional
   environments.
   - A portfolio of relevant research contributions, including at least one
   sample of your own policy writing.

*You’ll be an especially good fit if you have:*

   - Experience working directly on carbon removal, carbon offsets, or
   climate policy.
   - Experience thinking about the political economy and market mechanics
   of climate solutions.
   - Experience at the boundary of science and decision-making processes
   (public or private).
   - Experience with state climate policy in California, Washington, or New
   York.
   - Legal training, especially with a background in consumer protection.

*Benefits*

We are committed to providing competitive compensation and comprehensive
benefits to our employees. We offer fixed salary levels based on experience
and role to minimize biases in compensation and to ensure team members are
paid the same for doing the same work. Employees are eligible for promotion
or salary increases every six months at the time of their performance
review.


We expect this position to be a regular, full-time position, with an annual
salary of $140,000 USD, depending on level of experience. In addition to
salary, we offer a comprehensive set of benefits to all full-time employees:

We are not currently able to sponsor a visa for this position, and
