Flint Postdoctoral Fellowship, Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences, Yale University

The Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences at Yale University (http://earth.yale.edu) announces a competition for the Richard Foster Flint Postdoctoral Fellowship. We welcome applicants with research interests in climatic processes, Cenozoic paleoclimate, historical climate records, and future climate predictions. Specific research areas include, but are not limited to, glaciology; climatology; atmospheric and oceanic circulation; low-temperature geochemistry; paleobiological and paleoecological responses to climate change; and coupling between tectonic, climatic, environmental, and biotic processes. The Postdoctoral Associate position is awarded for one year, subject to renewal for a maximum of two years, providing a stipend ($65,000/yr) and research funds ($7,000/yr), plus health-care benefits and limited funds for relocation expenses. Applicants should contact a sponsor in the Department to discuss potential research projects and to arrange for an endorsement letter (max 1 page) from the faculty sponsor. Applicants should submit a short (2–3 page) statement of research interests and proposed research (including potential broader impacts) and a curriculum vitae with a full list of publications via Interfolio. Broader impacts may include, for example, public education and outreach activities, impacts on diversity, equity, and inclusion, and other positive societal benefits. Furthermore, applicants should arrange for three confidential letters of reference; letters are due with your application (by January 5, 2024). To arrange for letter submission, applicants should enter the names and email addresses of your letter writers and sponsoring faculty member in Interfolio; the system will then request the letters directly from your letter writers. Applications should be submitted online at http://apply.interfolio.com/137149. The deadline for receipt of all application materials is January 5, 2024, and successful candidates are expected to begin their program at Yale between July 1 and December 31, 2024. Applicants should have a PhD or should be a 2024-degree candidate, and they need to have documentation of degree completion by the time they start.

Yale University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity employer. Yale values diversity among its students, staff, and faculty and strongly welcomes applications from women, persons with disabilities, protected veterans, and underrepresented minorities.
