Scientific Programmer for Atmospheric Instruments
We are looking for a scientific programmer to join our research team at SPEC
Inc (www.specinc.com <http://www.specinc.com> ). At SPEC Inc., we
manufacture research instruments to be mounted on aircraft for a variety of
field projects and conduct research on cloud microphysics with the data
obtained. The programmer will work closely with scientists and engineers at
SPEC to maintain, improve, and develop in-situ data processing software. The
detailed description of the position is available below;
Expected tasks for the position include (but are not limited to)
* Improvements and translations of the existing data-processing codes
(Matlab or IDL) into Python
* Development of new Python codes for processing observational data
from a variety of instruments
Required qualifications
* Fluency in the Python programming language, including NumPy
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Atmospheric
Sciences, or a relevant field
* Strong communication skills
Desired qualifications
* Fluency in other programming languages, especially Matlab, IDL
and/or C++
* Advanced degree in the aforementioned fields, commensurate with
relevant experiences in Computer Science or Atmospheric Sciences
* Knowledge and/or interest in atmospheric sciences and cloud physics

Salary: $70,000 - $100,000/year, depending on the experience
