Subject: methane inverse modeling position listed on USAJobs

Hi all,

Good news today, our position for a new hire for an inverse modeling position has been listed on USAJobs. Please see the link below. I'm working on getting the word out but please share with your networks / potential candidates. The link to apply and a more detailed description is below.

https://www.usajobs.gov/job/761172000

Areas of expertise:
This principal investigator will be responsible for research on evaluating and improving emission estimates of methane as well as other greenhouse gases and pollutants using satellite-based remote sensing, chemical transport models (e.g., CMAQ), and inverse modeling techniques. Research will focus on better quantifying emissions from known sources, detecting potentially unknown sources, and assessing the uncertainty in these estimates. This could include both applying existing techniques with new datasets and developing new methods to address key uncertainties.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, leading research efforts in the following areas relative to methane as well as other greenhouse gases and air pollutants:

  * Developing, applying, and interpreting inverse modeling methods using satellite-based remote sensing datasets
  * Assessment of uncertainty in inverse modeling techniques
  * Developing new modeling capabilities to better represent atmospheric fate and transport
  * Using in-situ measurements of concentrations to assess improved emission estimates
  * Using meteorological measurements to assess uncertainty in chemical transport modeling of concentrations

Thanks,
Rob
