DESCRIPTION

Under direct guidance of a more senior researcher or engineer, the Field
Researcher provides extensive logistical support to field sites that
include collaborating as a team member to deploy and maintain field
equipment and conduct field based sampling as needed. Conducts laboratory
testing and instrument preparation including calibrations. Writes up
reports of laboratory and field work. Conducts analysis and processes data.
Assists with shipping tasks. Maintains lab records that pertain to
shipments and ordering. Responsible for assisting with lab management
including ordering supplies as needed, maintaining inventory, creating
hazardous waste labels, organizing equipment. Provide technical support to
personnel. Applies environmental physics and hydrometeorology to support
field research projects of small to medium size and intermediate scope and
complexity. The Field Researcher needs to be highly motivated and flexible,
with the ability to assume additional responsibilities as conditions
warrant.

   -

   Must be willing and able to travel and be in the field for up to 50% of
   time depending on the season.
   -

   Must be willing to work with hazardous materials.
   -

   Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
   -

   Overtime and weekends may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

*Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences or related field, or
equivalent experience.

   -

   Working knowledge of safety, legal, cultural and regulatory requirements
   relative to field research responsibility.
   -

   Working knowledge of research discipline, principles, concepts, analysis
   and / or operations being conducted at field / remote sites. Demonstrated
   ability and experience to perform routine maintenance and calibrations on
   equipment being prepared for deployment.
   -

   Working knowledge of local customs and operations at field / remote
   sites.
   -

   Demonstrates ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships and
   partnerships with remote research partners. Excellent interpersonal and
   communication skills. Effective written and verbal English language
   communication skills.
   -

   Demonstrates ability to work with a team, and to meet deadlines with
   minimal supervision. Proven ability to prioritize and organize a variety of
   duties.
   -

   Proficient research and analytical skills. Demonstrated experience with
   the use of a PC and Unix computers. Knowledge of Windows operating system
   and use of software applications such as Excel and Word to work with
   spreadsheets, databases and graphing techniques. Ability to learn new
   software applications for statistical and graphical analysis. Basic
   knowledge of statistics.

   Demonstrated communication skills with project team members. Willingness
   and demonstrated ability to embrace and consistently uphold the principles
   of community for a collaborative work environment.

   Demonstrates attention to detail and organizational skills.
   -

   Demonstrates ability to work in ambiguous conditions. Creativity and
   initiative in solving problems that arise with assigned tasks.
   -

   Ability to perform repetitive tasks meticulously.
   -

   Ability to accurately document research procedures.
   -

   Ability to use standard handheld shop tools such as wrenches, drills,
   etc.
   -

   Demonstrated knowledge and practice of all appropriate safety methods
   and procedures.
