Dear colleagues,

The Department of Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at North Carolina
State University (NCSU) is seeking to hire a postdoctoral researcher to
work on a funded project on air pollution prediction in disadvantaged
communities using machine learning.

The successful candidate will work with an interdisciplinary team of
experts including faculties from atmospheric science, computer science,
statistics, urban planning, and the Center for Human Health and the
Environment at NCSU. The position will also involve interactions with an
environmental justice NGO and local communities. In addition to this
project, the successful candidates have the room to develop other research
projects on air pollution and greenhouse gases using atmospheric chemistry
models, satellite observations, and data science and statistical methods
(see detailed research interest at https://zhenqu.wordpress.ncsu.edu/). The
initial appointment is 1 year, with the possibility of extension depending
on mutual satisfaction.

Requirements

The candidate must have a Ph.D. in a related field by the time of
appointment. Experience with machine learning and statistical modeling,
programming (Python, MATLAB, etc.), satellite observations, atmospheric
chemistry models, and high-performance computing is highly desired.

Application
Interested candidates should email Dr. Zhen Qu (zqu5 at ncsu.edu) their CV, a
cover letter with research interests, and the contact information of 3
references. The review of applications starts immediately. The expected
start date is summer 2023 but is negotiable.
