The Department of Goesciences at Boise State University is searching for
two one-year Visiting Assistant Professors for the 2023-2024 academic year.
We seek candidates with expertise in (1) Geography and GIS

Geography/GIS:

The Department of Geosciences at Boise State University invites applications
for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Geography, with expertise in
Geospatial Information Systems, beginning August 2023. The successful
candidate will lead the instruction of four courses in the academic 2023-202
4 year: an introductory geography course and a combined advanced
undergraduate/graduate-level geographic information systems course, each of
which are offered in fall and spring semesters. The Department has
expertise in satellite- and drone-based optical, lidar, and radar remote
sensing techniques, digital signal processing, geostatistics, and
scientific computing. Faculty from within the Department and other
departments at the university that are affiliated with the new School of
the Environment <https://www.boisestate.edu/environment/> have expertise in
physical and social geography, climate change, public health, and beyond.

A Ph.D. in a field of geosciences is required. Preferred qualifications
include: experience or strong interest in supporting student success
through use of current technologies and evidence-based instructional
practices; experience or strong interest in supporting student success
through an accessible, inclusive, and equitable learning environment;
evidence of expertise and research experience in physical geography or
related geospatial science; experience using Geospatial Information Systems
(GIS) tools to conduct research in geography and geospatial sciences.

Geophysics:

classes in the academic 2023-2024 year, including two of our established
undergraduate and/or graduate geophysics courses (examples include Applied
Geophysics, Geostatistics, Digital Signal Processing), as well as two
graduate seminars aligned with the candidate’s research profile and
teaching interests. Boise State geophysics is recognized for its excellence
in cryosphere science, volcanology, hydrogeophysics, and seismo-acoustics.
