Postdoctoral Fellow in Prescribed Fire, Dispersion, and Health Equity. Florida
State University/Remote



Description: Florida State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research
Fellow to lead a project on prescribed fire, atmospheric dispersion, and
health equity funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
The fellow will join an interdisciplinary science team (earth science,
geography, and public health) that collaborates closely with local decision
makers.



Duties include:



   - Lead analysis, scientific writing, and results dissemination
   - Co-manage the project
   - Potentially assist in the training of new researchers

Qualifications

   - PhD completed before appointment begins. We welcome applicants from
   environmental science, geography, earth, ocean, or atmospheric science or
   related fields
   - Ability to work independently with general guidance
   - Excellent organizational and communications skills
   - Desirable skills include experience with numerical modeling (e.g.,
   Hybrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory), reconciling
   ground and satellite earth observations, high-performance computing, and
   familiarity with socioeconomic data sources.


Appointment Details
Funds are available for a 2-year appointment. The position can be based at
Florida State University or potentially remotely in the U.S. The experience
will advance the fellow’s professional, technical, and career interests.
Target hiring date is May of 2023. The fellow will work with Drs. Holly Nowell,
Chris Holmes, and Chris Uejio.
