*Job description* — The State University of New York College of
Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF) in Syracuse, NY invites
applications for an academic-year (10 month) tenure-track position as
Assistant/Associate Professor of Environmental Biochemistry located in the
Department of Chemistry. We are especially interested in candidates with
research interests in biochemistry that complement efforts at the college
in fields such as the biochemistry of harmful algal blooms, emerging
contaminants, degradation of environmental pollutants and biochemical
processes important in maintaining healthy aquatic ecosystems. The
candidate is expected to contribute to the broader research enterprise on
campus and help expand the departmental undergraduate and graduate programs
in biochemistry and the allied fields of environmental chemistry, natural
products chemistry, renewable materials/biopolymer chemistry, or
environmental health. Teaching responsibilities include general
biochemistry, biochemistry lab, and a specialty graduate level course. The
successful candidate will build an internationally recognized and
extramurally funded research program. A strong interest in collaborative
research with other faculty in Chemistry and in other departments is
expected within the broader mission of the College to advance knowledge and
promote stewardship of both natural and designed environments.
