SUMMARY: The African Climate and Development Initiative<http://www.acdi.uct.ac.za/> (ACDI) is advertising for a postdoctoral researcher to join an interdisciplinary team of researchers at ACDI working on the nexus of nature-based solutions (NbS) and climate change. The successful applicant will investigate approaches to improving usability of earth observation information and product accuracy for monitoring key NbS in South Africa such as invasive alien plant management (amongst others). In South Africa, there is a need for monitoring of NbS in the country leveraging on opportunities linked to the broad range of information gathered via earth observation. This includes being able to use spatially explicit information alongside artificial intelligence to assess ecosystem degradation driving processes and monitoring change in these processes due to NbS.
