Greetings All!
We’re delighted to share that the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) Education & Outreach Program<https://cires.colorado.edu/outreach/> (E&O) at the University of Colorado Boulder has an opening for a full-time position. We seek to hire a candidate with a diverse skill set in project management and coordination as well as in curriculum development. The successful candidate will split their time between managing the newly funded FieldSafe project, supporting the Polar Science Early Career Community Office (PSECCO) team and coordinating across projects and strategic initiatives within CIRES E&O.
FieldSafe<https://cires.colorado.edu/outreach/programs/fieldsafe> is a program that provides field research teams with the tools to promote safe and inclusive environments, identify unsafe and harmful behaviors, respond appropriately to mitigate these behaviors, support those impacted by the behaviors and proactively plan to reduce the likelihood and impact of these behaviors in the future. The program will develop and implement a tiered training approach to increase field team preparedness and change fieldwork team culture towards a more inclusive, supportive, welcoming, discrimination-free and productive environment. The training will consist of:
1. Online training modules as part of a self-paced course to address harassment and bystander intervention as it relates to field safety and risk management and includes live facilitated debrief sessions to practice using skills introduced in the training modules.
2. Trainer-focused modules to allow for instructor pool growth; and 3) access to a FieldSafe toolkit and resources, currently in development. The program includes a research component that is conducted by the FieldSafe research team. New funding supports building the FieldSafe course content as a Massive Open Online Course.
PSECCO<https://psecco.org/> is a national-level organization housed at CU Boulder under the CIRES Education & Outreach Program focused on early career scientists who are studying Arctic and Antarctic regions. PSECCO’s mission is also focused on empowering and elevating polar early career scientists in the work they are already doing, supporting a vibrant community, providing opportunities and resources, offering skills training, and working together towards more just, inclusive, diverse, equitable and accessible polar science environments.
The University of Colorado Boulder is committed to building a culturally diverse community of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to contributing to an inclusive campus environment. We are an Equal Opportunity employer, including veterans and individuals with disabilities.
