Postdoctoral research associate in plant biology/data science at Middlebury
College

The Coe lab at Middlebury College is hiring a full-time postdoctoral
research associate to begin Fall/Winter 2023. The hired individual will be
responsible for completing a meta-analysis focusing on global carbon
cycling processes contributed by bryophytes and generating/testing
model-relevant functions for bryophyte-carbon cycling processes. The
postdoc will interface with a diverse cross-institution team of researchers
with expertise in plant ecology, biogeochemistry, and Earth systems
modeling, and will contribute to mentorship of undergraduate researchers
involved in the project. The postdoc will have the optional opportunity to
teach a January term course on the topic of their choice for additional
remuneration.

The candidate should hold a Ph.D. in plant ecology, plant physiology, or a
related field at the time of hire and have experience with data science
and/or process-based modeling. This project is housed in the Coe Lab at
Middlebury College with collaborative support from the USGS Southwest
Biological Science Center and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The
possibility of remote work will be considered. Middlebury College offers
very competitive postdoctoral salaries with benefits. Start date is
flexible, ideally occurring by Jan 2024. Initial appointment is for one
year with a possibility of an extension for up to two years assuming
ongoing grant support from U.S. Dept. of Energy. Applicants should include
a cover letter, CV, and contact information for three references. Review of
applications will begin August 15, 2023 and will continue until the
position is filled.
