Description:

The graduate research assistant (RA) will work in a stimulating environment
on extreme heat and human health projects. The interdisciplinary research
team works closely with decision makers such as municipalities, state
health departments, and non-profit organizations. RA funding is available
for a Masters student (2 years) or PhD student (at least 3 years plus
guaranteed teaching assistant funding, if necessary).

The position will cover tuition and provide a biweekly stipend for 12
months. Funded travel opportunities are available. The position will
provide training in external grant funding, speaking with the media, and
other professional development skills.

Duties include:


   -

   Lead data collection and analysis
   -

   Review, synthesize, and identify gaps in relevant literature
   -

   Clearly communicate the study methodology and findings
   -

   Disseminate results of research activities at conferences and in
   peer-reviewed scientific journals
   -

   Co-manage project
   -

   Assist in the training of new researchers


Qualifications:

   -

   Bachelor’s degree in scientific or mixed methods field (e.g., Geography,
   Environmental Science, Public Health etc.)
   -

   Some experience with scientific computing languages such as Python, R,
   Julia, etc.
   -

   Some familiarity with extreme heat, public health study designs, or
   working with sociodemographic or geographic data.


   -

   Ability to work independently with general guidance
   -

   Excellent organizational and communications skills
