We are looking for a candidate to fill an exciting position with the Climate, Ecology, and Environment Group at the Los Alamos National Lab's Earth and Environmental Sciences Division. This group includes experts-scientists, Postdocs, and students-focused on climate science, atmospheric and land surface processes, field work, modeling, and more. The Deputy Group Leader position is a unique blend of 50% management and 50% science roles.


The job includes:

  *   research program development
  *   oversight and technical development of laboratory facilities
  *   safety and compliance
  *   promoting diversity, as well as assisting with personnel management


We encourage anyone to apply who is interested in working more closely with multiple teams within a group of dedicated scientists studying a range of topics, such as:


  *   water/food/climate security
  *   soil carbon sequestration and greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation
  *   GHG monitoring, biogeochemical cycling
  *   hydrologic and landscape response to climate change
  *   hydrologic and ecosystem modeling
  *   ML/AI approaches to environmental data sets
  *   advanced isotopic and chemical tracing in the environment
  *   climate impacts and national security, and,
  *   logistical deployments in support of the scientific enterprise
  *   aerosol and gas phase atmospheric characterization
