The Air Quality Program<https://ecology.wa.gov/Air-Climate> (AQP) within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a Senior Air Monitoring Specialist (Environmental Specialist 4) (In-Training)<https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/washington/jobs/4318056/senior-air-monitoring-specialist-environmental-specialist-4-in-training> position. This position is located in our Northwest Region Office (NWRO) in Shoreline, WA<https://www.shorelinewa.gov/>. Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.

Please Note: The salary posted above includes the additional 5% premium pay that this position will receive due to this position's location in Shoreline, WA (King County).

This is the perfect position for anyone who enjoys working outdoors and wants to apply their scientific expertise to help the Air Quality Program understand and reduce air pollution.

As Senior Air Monitoring Specialist, you will monitor the ambient air for fine (PM2.5) and coarse (PM10) particulate, ozone, and other criteria pollutants and their chemical constituents, at locations throughout Ecology's Northwest Region. You'll specialize in continuous particulate and meteorological monitoring, including air sensor monitoring that will help AQP with implementing environmental justice provisions consistent with the Climate Commitment Act. You'll also provide back-up operation for the near-road fine particulate Chemical Speciation Network, automated gas chromatograph that is part of the Photochemical Assessment Monitoring Stations (PAMS) program as well as manual method carbonyls and VOCs for the National Air Toxics Trends Stations (NATTS) program at the Seattle-Beacon Hill NCore monitoring site.

Being a reliable self-starter, an excellent problem-solver, and a natural collaborator is a must as you will function both independently and as an integral member of our regional and statewide teams of dedicated air monitoring professionals.

Note: This position offers a career path and on-the-job training. This position allows you to progress through the Environmental Specialist (ES) field and achieve the goal class of an ES4. Candidates will be considered at the ES3 and ES4 levels, depending on their qualifications. For salary levels for each, please see the qualifications section.

Tele-work options for this position: This field-oriented position will be eligible to tele-work two days per week. Salary:  $57,984.00 - $90,516.00 Annually
