*Job Title:* PhD Student Researcher

*Location:* The Hebrew University of Jerusalem

*Topic:* Extreme Precipitation and Aerosol Effects in Radiative Convective
Equilibrium

*Supervisor:* Dr. Guy Dagan

*Application Deadline:* 30.10.23

*Description**:*

The Department of Atmospheric Sciences at The Hebrew University of
Jerusalem invites applications for a PhD student researcher position in the
area of aerosol effect on extreme precipitation within the framework of
radiative convective equilibrium (RCE). The successful candidate will have
the opportunity to join Dr. Guy Dagan's research group and contribute to
cutting-edge research in atmospheric science.

*Project Overview**:*

This PhD research project aims to investigate the complex interactions
between extreme precipitation events and aerosol particles in the
atmosphere, particularly in the context of radiative convective
equilibrium. The work of this position will primarily involve running and
statistically analyzing numerical experiments using 3-D cloud resolving
models.

*Responsibilities**:*

· Conduct advanced research in the field of extreme precipitation and
aerosol effects within the RCE framework.

· Design and perform numerical experiments using atmospheric models
and simulations.

· Analyze and interpret atmospheric data to draw physical understanding
.

· Collaborate with the research group and contribute to ongoing
projects.

· Prepare and publish research findings in scientific journals.

· Attend conferences and workshops to present research results and
network with peers.

*Qualifications**:*

· A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Atmospheric Sciences or a related
field.

· Strong background in atmospheric physics and numerical modeling.

· Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in atmospheric
research (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Fortran).

· Excellent data analysis skills and experience with relevant software
tools.

· Strong written and oral communication skills in English.

· Motivated, independent, and able to work effectively in a

· Opportunity to collaborate with leading experts in the field.

· Engage in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of
atmospheric science and climate dynamics.

· Experience the vibrant academic and cultural atmosphere of Jerusalem.

*Application Instructions**:*

Interested candidates should submit the following documents to
guy.dagan at mail.huji.ac.il:

· Curriculum Vitae (CV) detailing academic and research background.

· Cover letter outlining research interests and motivations.
