Penn State’s Earth and Environmental Systems Institute (EESI) invites applications for non-tenure line, full-time position to participate in research and provide project management support for the Program on Coupled Human and Earth Systems (PCHES, https://pches.psu.edu). PCHES is an interdisciplinary research consortium, led by Penn State and spanning 10 institutions, that models and analyzes complex, multisector, multiscale land, energy, water, and infrastructure systems to better understand risks and potential responses. The individual chosen for this role is expected to become an integral part of the PCHES team, with responsibilities that include research, budget planning, scheduling, event coordination, communication with team researchers and external stakeholders, web development, and preparation of reports and other materials for sponsors.

Applicants for the position should have at least a master’s degree and prior, documented experience with project management and/or interdisciplinary research. Strong written communication skills and fluency with standard office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Google Workspace) are essential. The position requires a very high level of organization and attention to detail, along with an ability to communicate and coordinate with students, postdocs, faculty, and staff across Penn State and at partner institutions. The ideal candidate will have a background in climate science, economics, hydrology, operations research, scientific computing, or other relevant field that will enable them to actively participate in and contribute to PCHES research activities.
