The stratospheric aerosol group<https://stratolab.wixsite.com/aquilalab> at American University, Washington DC is looking to hire a research fellow<http://apply.interfolio.com/123411> in the field of atmospheric aerosol. The fellow will participate in two NASA-funded projects aiming at understanding the development of volcanic plumes and their impacts on atmospheric reanalysis and data assimilation.

Strong candidates will have excellent quantitative and programming skills and an expertise in aerosol modeling. Familiarity with the representation of volcanic plumes in plume and/or general circulation models is an asset.

Qualifications: 1) Master’s or PhD in atmospheric science, geology, physics, or another field relevant to aerosol and/or volcanic plume modeling on or before August 1, 2023; 2) Proficient coding skills; 3) Expertise in aerosol modeling.

This is initially a 1-year term appointment with the possibility of renewal to 2 years. The salary is commensurate with experience, starting at $62,000 per year. The anticipated start date for this position is August 1, 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. Review of applications will begin on May 1st and will continue until the position is filled.
