General Summary
The Department of Geography, Geology, and the Environment at Illinois State University invites applications for a 1-year position as Instructional Assistant Professor in Geology. The appointment runs from August 16, 2023 until May 15, 2024. A Ph.D. in Geology or another closely related field is preferred, but Ph.D. candidates may also apply.

The Department offers B.S. degree in Geology, and M.S. in Hydrogeology. We seek a candidate to serve these programs during the 2023-24 academic year. Area of specialization is open but preference will be given to candidates with a background in water sciences.

The candidate will teach a combination of general education and upper-level elective courses in geology and graduate courses in Hydrogeology. In fall 2023, the candidate will teach large sections of our general education classes, GEO 207 "Natural Disasters", and GEO102 "Principles of Geology". In spring 2024, the candidate will teach a large section of GEO102 "Principles of Geology" again, plus two other courses, at least one of which will be at the graduate level in Hydrogeology.
A Ph.D. in Geology or another closely related field is preferred, but ABD candidates may also apply.

The salary range falls between $45,000 and $53,000, depending on qualifications.
