The Department of Environmental, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the
University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for the position of
professor and department chair. We invite candidates with strong academic
leadership experience and a vision to support continued growth of the
department and address our mission “to excel in education and research in
Earth system science and human-environmental interactions.” The applicant
must have an outstanding record of publications and funded research,
demonstrated success of teaching, and interpersonal skills that will foster
the development of department faculty and students and enhance the
visibility of the department both internally and externally. The successful
applicant is expected to develop and maintain an externally funded research
program. Candidates whose expertise can contribute to the department’s
strengths in environmental, Earth, and atmospheric science will be
considered. Candidates with expertise in one of the following fields are
particularly encouraged to apply: water/air/soil analysis and protection,
coupled human-natural systems, environmental science and policy, and
sustainability.
