The Department of Biology at East Carolina University (http://www.ecu.edu) seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position (9-month appointment) at the Assistant Professor level with expertise in Biochemistry to begin August 2023.


The successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program in biochemistry that actively engages undergraduate and graduate students. Strong candidates will utilize cell culture systems or model organisms to address fundamental questions in the field of biochemistry, particularly as they relate to general cell biology, disease, pharmaceuticals, or environmental toxicology. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate students effectively in the area of biochemistry. Successful candidates will become a part of a collegial, interdisciplinary Biology Department and will be expected to participate fully in Departmental, College, and University activities.


A Ph. D. in Biochemistry or a closely related field (including but not limited to Biology or Molecular Biology), two years of post-doctoral or equivalent training, and a scholarly record of achievements. Qualifying degrees must be received at the time of consideration from accredited institutions.
