The Department of Geosciences, the Institutes for Energy & the Environment, and the Earth & Environmental Systems Institute at Penn State invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Climate Risk and Decision-Making<https://psu.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/PSU_Academic/job/Co-Funded-Department-of-Geosciences---Institute-of-Energy-and-the-Environment-Faculty-Hire-in-Climate-Risk-and-Decision-Making_REQ_0000037158-1> at the Assistant Professor level.

For this position, we seek a colleague who can lead convergent research at the interface of geosciences, climate science, impacts, adaptation, and decision-making under deep uncertainty. Climate change poses compound and cascading risks to natural systems, people, institutions, and built environments, and we are increasingly forced to make hard decisions about managing these risks and formulating responses to them. The successful applicant will be expected to conduct transdisciplinary research on decision-making for climate risks, addressing considerations of vulnerability, resilience, equity, and impacts to critical infrastructure and vulnerable communities. We are especially interested in applicants who integrate various methodological approaches as they are applied to climate risk, policy, and societal impacts. Attractive areas of interest are broadly defined and include but are not limited to: climatic and geophysical drivers of risk; climate hazards and risks (wildfires/storms/floods/sea level rise/coastal hazards); decision analytics for risk management and adaptation.
