Primary Responsibilities: To lead MCV/MCA’s efforts in advancing equitable
climate action and a just clean energy transition.


Supervisor: Director of Policy and Partnership


Work Week: Full time


Position: Salaried, $70,000/year. Federal Fair Labor Standards Act Exempt.
The employee is not eligible for overtime payment.


Location: Maine.  MCV/MCA has a physical office in Augusta, the state
capital. Staff are all working remotely at this time, and remote or hybrid
work may be possible going forward.


Overview: Maine Conservation Voters (MCV) and Maine Conservation Alliance
(MCA), two state-wide, nonpartisan, nonprofit organizations, are seeking a
strategic, collaborative, equity-driven leader to join our staff as
full-time Energy Justice Manager.



Our vision for the future grows from the powerful commitment of Maine
people to tackle climate change; safeguard our air, land, and water;
protect voting rights; and nurture economic opportunities afforded by clean
energy and good environmental stewardship. Our strategic plans, approved in
2020, center all of our work through a race equity lens, recognizing that
racial justice is inextricably linked to our pro-climate, pro-democracy
efforts.



Job Description: The Energy Justice Manager will support our organizations’
missions, strategic plans, and priorities by developing and leading
campaigns to advance equitable climate action and clean energy solutions;
building and nurturing partnerships that connect policymakers and impacted
communities; and supporting the internal culture of climate justice  at MCV
and MCA. The Energy Justice Manager will coordinate and collaborate with
critical stakeholders including local community leaders, New Mainers,
Wabanaki leaders, environmental advocates, labor unions, businesses, state
government, and others to advocate for a just clean energy transition, with
a focus on development and implementation of Maine’s Offshore Wind Roadmap,
utility accountability, and ongoing implementation of Maine’s Climate
Action Plan, all to advance Maine’s climate and clean energy mandates in a
manner that ensures equitable distribution of environmental benefits and
burdens as well as equitable input and engagement.


We are looking to hire: A highly motivated, reliable, and self-starting
professional with demonstrated experience building strategic relationships
and partnerships, managing multiple projects at a time, and working as part
of a team. This individual should also have a passion for environmental and
climate justice, a deep understanding of the need for and elements of a
just clean energy transition, experience working in politically charged
environments, and a demonstrated track record advancing equity and
inclusion.
