If we could send along this opportunity for mentorship supporting undergraduates interested in graduate school, I would appreciate it!

Thank you.

Hello,

We are recruiting new steering committee members for the Geosciences Education & Mentorship Support (GEMS) program! You can learn more about GEMS and current steering committee here<https://gems-program.org/>. We are looking for three additional members (see descriptions below) starting in May 2022 with a minimum commitment through the 2023-2024 academic year. Please note these are volunteer positions and thus unpaid. If you are interested, please apply using the following application form by April 8th, 2022 (Application Form<https://forms.gle/22uJF2jgoLwghu4C7>). We will contact candidates by mid-April.

(1) Marketing/Social Media Specialist:

Interest and background in social media platforms (Twitter, other platforms may be beneficial), availability to post weekly (minimum) and adjust as needed depending on time of year, posting/interactions with other posts, communicating social media needs with the steering committee

(2) Matching Specialist:

Experience in mentorship programs, refining mentee and mentor matching criteria, attention to detail, coding experience not required but may be beneficial

(3) Recruitment Specialist:

Recruiting mentors and mentees, willing to build relationships with specific institutions or groups of institutions (e.g., MSIs, Tribal Colleges), experience with outreach efforts

Additional information: The steering committee meets twice a month (via Zoom) and commits to an additional 1-2 hours/week outside meeting times to do work in the offseason. During our primary matching season (September 9-16, 2022 and October 14-24, 2022) steering committee members commit to 8-10 hours/week. Steering committee members primarily communicate via Slack.

Thank you,

The GEMS steering committee
