The Toxics Cleanup Program<http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/tcp/cleanup.html> (TCP) within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a Site Manager/ UECA Coordinator (Environmental Engineer 5)<https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/washington/jobs/3455171/site-manager-ueca-coordinator-environmental-engineer-5> position. During Healthy Washington Roadmap to Recovery, employees are working a combination of in-office and/or telework based on position and business need. At the present time, this position is not required to be in the office regularly. However, this position will eventually be in the office at least one day a week once telework agreements are finalized. Ecology is following current state guidance regarding mask requirements, health screening questions before entry, and social distancing.

This is a senior environmental engineer position available in the Toxics Cleanup Program's Southwest Region. The primary function of this position is as a cleanup site manager, directing responsible parties through the cleanup process, reviewing submitted documents and evaluating technical information for completeness and determining compliance with the regulations. In this role, you will work in a collaborative environment with other cleanup site managers with varied backgrounds and experience. In some cases you may work on teams on complex sites.


Qualifications



Required Qualifications:
Experience for both required and desired qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment and educational experience. See below for how you may qualify.



Option 1:

An Engineer-In-Training Certificate or a Bachelor's degree with a major study in one of the following engineering fields: sanitary, civil, geotechnical, water resource, environmental, chemical, mechanical or related field AND
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the state of Washington or another state based on registration requirements equivalent to those in Washington AND five years of experience in environmental engineering.



Option 2:

A Master's degree with major study in one of the following engineering fields: sanitary, civil, geotechnical, water resource, environmental, chemical, mechanical or related field AND
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the state of Washington or another state based on registration requirements equivalent to those in Washington AND four years of experience in environmental engineering.



Option 3:

A Ph.D. degree with major study in one of the following engineering fields: sanitary, civil, geotechnical, water resource, environmental, chemical, mechanical or related field AND
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the state of Washington or another state based on registration requirements equivalent to those in Washington AND three years of experience in environmental engineering.



NOTE: Requirements for professional registration as an engineer in the state of Washington are eight years of professional experience (which may include up to four years of college-level engineering education) and successful completion of sixteen hours of professional licensing exams. Applicants qualifying through the licensing equivalency option must achieve professional registration as an engineer in the state of Washington within six months of appointment to this class.

Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:


*        Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

*        Registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Washington.

*        Initial 40-hour hazardous materials training followed by annual 8 hour refresher. Must be acquired within six months of hire.



Desired Qualifications:
