PhD (Geosciences) at Temple University (Fall 2022)

We have an additional graduate student opening (PhD) for studying
sustainable engineering solutions to lower the environmental and economic
cost of solar energy development by providing novel analysis methodologies
and field data on solar energy – agriculture/range colocation approaches
from multiple sites. This NSF-funded project will investigate the synergies
and tradeoffs of co-locating solar PV with carefully selected agricultural
crops or activities, using a combination of a comprehensive life cycle
analysis models and field experiments. Further, the project will evaluate
the economic feasibility of colocated systems at different scales and the
potential for improving rural livelihoods.

Master’s degree in geology, hydrology/water resources, or environmental
engineering is preferred. The graduate student will be fully funded by
research and/or teaching assistantships. Experience or interest in
quantitative data analysis, sensor networks, science education/outreach
activities is preferred.
