The UMD Large Lakes Observatory is seeking a Researcher 2, Job Code
8352R2,  This is a temporary, 100% time, Civil Service position.  A term of
one year is guaranteed, with additional time dependent on the availability
of funding not to exceed 2 years.  The position reports to Dr. Elizabeth
Minor (eminor at d.umn.edu). Please feel free to contact Dr. Minor with any

This position supports the sampling and analysis of water samples by the
Lake Lakes Observatory and the Minor lab group. To do this, the successful
applicant would order supplies as needed, oversee health and safety
considerations for the Minor lab, help to develop and perform sampling and
analytical procedures in collaboration with the lab PI and assist in
training new lab personnel in these procedures.



Job duties:

• maintenance of lab microscope (5%)
• ordering of supplies (5%)
• preparation for and participation in field sampling (both by boat and
from shore) (25%)
• preparation of samples via oxidations and density extractions (30%)
• analysis via microscopy, pyrolysis-GCMS and FTIR (30%)
• assistance with health and safety compliance (5%).
