quarterly sampling events, extracting DNA, library preparation for
metagenomic sequencing, quantitative PCR, bioinformatic and statistical
analysis. Experience in molecular microbiology is preferred, but not
mandatory. Willingness to be on small boats and engaging in field work is
expected.

The selected student will matriculate in Fall 2022 at University of South
Alabama in the School of Marine and Environmental Science (

be in residence at Dauphin Island Sea Lab (

collecting samples this summer as a paid intern prior to matriculation.

Applications should be sent by email to Dr. Brandi Kiel Reese (

(within last 5 years) are required for admission to University of South
Alabama. DISL and USA are committed to diversity, equality, and inclusion;
therefore, we seek candidates whose research and/or lived experiences have
prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity, equity, and
inclusion.

Application review will begin on February 7, 2022 and will continue until
the position is filled. Interviews with the senior personnel on the project
will occur virtually starting around February 10, 2022.
