The Departments of Environmental Science and Biology at Baylor University, Texas seek a postdoctoral scholar to pursue research on freshwater ecosystems and climate in human-dominated landscapes using data-intensive approaches. The postdoc will be co-advised by Dr. Stephen Powers (https://sites.baylor.edu/powersresearchgroup/) and Dr. Ryan McManamay (https://mcmanamaylab.weebly.com/)and will be encouraged to collaborate within in our growing research community and through the Center for Reservoir and Aquatic Systems Research (CRASR).

Baylor has outstanding research facilities situated about a 90-minute drive from the booming Austin and Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas metro areas. The expected research will strengthen capacity for understanding and forecasting ecosystem dynamics through integration of public water and climate datasets, remotely sensed data products relevant to water bodies, and modeling. Priority areas include river-reservoir linkages, urban environments, seasonal cycles, and interannual variability in precipitation and heat.

The position is fully funded for two years with an annual salary of $47,500 plus fringe benefits of 33%. The scholar is expected to routinely publish scientific articles in international journals.

Expected qualifications include:
-Demonstrated interest in analysis of public water datasets
-Advanced computational skills with ability to quickly retrieve and synthesize large datasets, and perform exploratory analyses
-Familiarity with the R programming language
-Experience publishing in reputable scientific journals
-Familiarity with QGIS or ArcGIS

Preferred qualifications include:
-Experience or interest with GitHub collaboration and methods that emphasize computational reproducibility within teams
-Experience or interest exploring large collections of time series data
-Familiarity with Google Earth Engine tools or Python
-Interest in both local and large-scale (regional to continental) pattern and process
