Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking a professional like you to serve as both the technical and functional leader of the digital farming organization’s weather and climate R&D team and as an individual contributor in the same domain. You will set the strategic direction for our weather and climate initiatives and operationalize the execution of our strategic weather and climate focus areas. Together with other R&D community leads, you will help ensure cross functional weather and climate needs are met and served to both our project and product communities. You will function 40% in the team lead capacity and 60% as an individual contributor.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your proven ability to develop and drive strategic weather & climate initiatives and services for digital farming applications. You will also get to share your vast experience handling environmental geospatial data from public and commercial providers, as well as demonstrated knowledge of agricultural crop production systems.
Formula for Success

  *   Your ability to lead a team of subject matter experts in the weather and climate domains will be essential as you functionally and administratively lead the weather and climate team within the digital farming organization; being responsible to drive target setting, performance management, and career development of the team.
  *   Leveraging your education in Earth sciences (atmospheric science, meteorology, oceanography, geography, engineering or related), Agricultural or Biological Science with a strong background in Climate and Weather Systems, you will continuously evaluate the digital farming organization’s strategic direction in the weather and climate domains, and lead its execution.
  *   Demonstrating your experience leading weather and climate projects to serve the scientific and analytical needs of our weather, agronomic, and product development teams, you will work as a member of the R&D leadership team, ensuring cross team, cross region project and product weather and climate needs are met.​​​​​​​
  *   Relying on your experience with Weather and Climate Data and Models, as well as your experience working in agricultural, you will work as an induvial contributor and technical expert to implement ambitious R&D projects that lie at the intersection of agriculture and weather & climate.​​​​​​​
  *   Your effective communication skills will serve you well as you serve as an ambassador for BASF both internally and externally as it relates to critical weather and climate needs (i.e. AMS, NOAA, etc.).​​​​​​​
  *   Your extensive experience creating, architecting, and operationalizing scalable R&D solutions to challenging problems that lie at the intersection of agriculture and weather and climate systems will aid you as you negotiate major provider contracts ($1M ) and act as a technology scout in all things weather and climate related.
