This position is intended to support North Central CASC project commitments in the near future. The scientist sought for this position will have expertise and technical skills related to ecological responses to climate change and will serve as a resource for project partners in the development of climate-resource scenarios. This work will include synthesizing relevant scientific literature on the climate sensitivities of particular priority resources, applying species distribution models or related ecological response models to project changes in suitable habitat under different climate futures, and evaluating the efficacy and potential trade-offs for adaptation actions. There may be a possibility to work on cross-regional initiatives with the Northwest CASC.

  *   We are sharing the announcement prior to the open date of 2/28/2022 because the advertisement will close at midnight Eastern Time on the day that the pool reaches 100 applications. We expect that this ad will close very quickly (possibly after the first day), so interested applicants should be ready to apply upon the open date.
  *   Applicants must be U.S. Citizens and be able to pass a background investigation.
  *   Applicants can select a duty station of Boise, ID, or Boulder, CO. Relocation expenses will not be reimbursed.
  *   Term positions are annually renewable for a maximum of four years. Appointment to this position will not convey permanent status in the Federal service.
  *   If selected you may be asked to provide information regarding your COVID-19 vaccination status for the purposes of implementing workplace safety protocols, such as those related to masking, physical distancing, testing, travel, and quarantine.
