Professor of Empire Innovation in Renewable Energy and Energy Meteorology
The Atmospheric Sciences Research Center (ASRC)<https://www.albany.edu/asrc/indexmain.php> of the University at Albany, State University of New York<https://www.albany.edu/>, seeks to hire a senior scientist in the area of renewable energy and energy meteorology. This tenure-track, New York State-supported college-year appointment allows for supplemental summer salary from external research funding. The ideal candidate will serve as Professor of Empire Innovation in the Atmospheric Sciences Research Center. Priority will be given to candidates who have expertise in the atmospheric sciences as applied to solar and/or wind energy modeling and who are fluent in modern computational methods. The candidate will be expected to pursue and secure funding to support a robust research program, and publish in the academic (e.g., scientific peer-reviewed journals) field of renewable energy and energy meteorology. The successful candidate will be expected to strengthen ASRC and the university through (i) maintaining a strong externally funded research program; (ii) working with colleagues at ASRC and throughout the university on mutually beneficial research programs; (iii) recruiting and mentoring graduate students; (iv) serving the broader missions of the Center and the University to educate, inform and promote economic growth and broaden community engagement. The candidate will engage in cross-disciplinary collaborations and teaching with other UAlbany academic departments (e.g., the Department of Environmental and Sustainable Engineering, the Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences, the School of Business, the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity, the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy).
