Postdoctoral research positions on aerosol and aerosol-cloud interaction modeling at Texas A&M University, College Station

We seek two postdoctoral research associates to develop advanced representation of aerosol (e.g., volcanic aerosols, wildfire smokes, dust) and aerosol-cloud-precipitation interaction processes for Earth System Models (ESMs). The successful applicants will improve the process-level understanding of roles of aerosol and aerosol-cloud-precipitation interactions in the Earth System and reduce the uncertainties in aerosol radiative forcing and cloud radiative feedbacks estimated from ESMs.

The candidates will be based at Texas A&M University (TAMU) and be affiliated in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences, College of Geosciences. The researchers will have opportunities to collaborate closely with scientists at DOE National Laboratories (e.g., PNNL, LLNL) and NCAR.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree) in Atmospheric Sciences, or related field required by the start date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong quantitative and programming skills, experience in running global or regional atmospheric models (e.g., E3SM, CESM, WRF) or other atmospheric models, and strong oral and written communication skills.
APPOINTMENT


The initial appointment is for one year, with possible annual renewal for another two years based on performance. This is a full-time appointment and the postdocs will be supervised by Dr. Xiaohong Liu. The start date is immediately but is flexible between June 2022 to September 2022.
