Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Early Earth and Exoplanetary Climate at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem
We are seeking a postdoctoral research fellow to work in early Earth and/or exoplanetary climate. We are particularly looking for a candidate with experience or interest in researching hothouse climates in Earth's distant past (or distant future) or hothouse climates on rocky exoplanets. Research topics could include, but are not limited to, understanding the climate and/or convective regimes of early Earth or rocky exoplanets, moist or runaway greenhouse states, and climates near the inner edge of the habitable zone.
The work of this position will primarily involve running and statistically analyzing numerical experiments using 1-D atmospheric column models, 3-D global climate model simulations, and cloud resolving models. Preferred qualifications include a PhD in climate science, atmospheric science, earth science, planetary science, or astrophysics and experience statistically analyzing large datasets using Python, Matlab, Julia, or R. The postdoctoral research fellow will be based in the research groups of Dr. Guy Dagan and Dr. Nathan Steiger. The initial start date is flexible, beginning anytime through the summer of 2023. The appointment will be for one year and may be renewed for additional years based on performance.
A diversity of experiences, backgrounds, political viewpoints, and ways of thinking are vital to our research groups and for the problems we solve--all are encouraged to apply. To apply, please email Nathan Steiger (nathan.steiger at mail.huji.ac.il) all application documents combined as a single PDF file: a cover letter describing your research interests and experience, a CV, and the names and contact information for at least three references. Review of applications will begin January 31st, 2023 and will continue until the position is filled. Address any questions about the position to either Nathan Steiger (nathan.steiger at mail.huji.ac.il) or Guy Dagan (guy.dagan at mail.huji.ac.il).
