[ES_JOBS_NET] Postdoc position at CfA | Harvard & Smithsonian on MethaneSAT/AIR

We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral fellow to work with us on 
algorithm development and instrument calibration for MethaneSAT/AIR 
(https://www.methanesat.org <https://www.methanesat.org>) shortwave 
infrared spectroscopic measurements of local methane from the oil and 
gas sector and other sources worldwide. The research involves improving 
instrument calibration, l0-1b processor, atmospheric spectral fitting, 
retrieval algorithm, Observing System Simulation Experiments (OSSEs), 
and radiative transfer modeling.


The applicant must have a Ph.D. in atmospheric science, meteorology, 
physics, or a related field and should have a strong background in 
remote sensing of atmospheric gases and aerosols, radiative transfer 
modeling, and spectroscopy, and instrument calibration. Excellent 
computer skills, good oral and written communication skills in English 
as demonstrated by a publication record, and the ability to start very 
soon are prerequisites.


The work will be conducted at Center for Astrophysics (CfA) | Harvard & 
Smithsonian in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. The tentative start date 
is March 1, 2023 but is negotiable. The initial appointment is for 1 
year with the possibility of renewal, subject to satisfactory progress.
